We care about our customers and our team, and we are looking for an Assistant Manager to help us serve and lead that culture. The Assistant Manager at Alabama Outdoors in Homewood helps in leading a fun, dynamic, and engaging team who connects with our customers! An ideal candidate for this position is someone who possesses a passion for directing processes, leading a team, and engaging with customers about the products we carry.

The role of the Assistant Manager is to help the Store Manager oversee all store operations, motivate team members to pursue excellence, establish and teach best practices to prepare team members for their future, and finally, to serve and inspire customers and team members alike to get outside. The Assistant Manager supports the Store Manager in daily operations and ensuring the best experience possible for our customers and team.

Expected duties include:

  • Assisting in training team members: Training in certain roles and following up on Manager training to ensure consistency, accuracy, and knowledge.
  • Lead Sales Floor: Overseeing team member and customer interactions.
  • Operations: Receiving shipment, transfers, and drop shipments; overseeing eCommerce, online ordering system.
  • Administration work: Assisting store manager with submitting deposits; making the schedule; approving/denying time off requests with Store Manager’s assistance as needed.
  • Merchandising: Working to get new product out on the sales floor and merchandised according to company standards.
  • Coaching team members: Giving direction, guidance, education, and correction in the moment.
The Store Manager and Assistant Manager collaborate daily to ensure the store runs as efficiently as possible. All managers must be in constant communication with each other, as well as their team members and corporate in order for processes and procedures to run effectively.
